Plastic Man
While the unaired Plastic Man pilot may not have stayed up on You Tube for long, there is still art from the show on the web. Like this:
This show could have been REALLY fun.
You can see more pictures at Andy Updates and Stephen DeStefano.

New Johnny DC Legion of Super-Heroes book
DC has announced a new Johnny DC book to go with the Legion of Super-Heroes cartoon on Kids WB. The Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century, with an opening story by J. (Teen Titans Go!) Torres and Chynna Clugston-Flores, debuts on April 18. Can't wait.
Of interest in a Newsarama interview with writer J. Torres was this note that confirms that internally they were considering this a Superboy project at one point.
NRAMA: And just for continuity buffs - that guy with the S on his chest – Superboy, or a young Superman?
JT: They started off calling him Superboy in the scripts and other show material I was given for reference, but somewhere along the way it was changed to Superman. I'm assuming it's a legal thing. Or they wanted to tie it into the new movie franchise. Or both.

Legion of Super Heroes
From Justice League Adventures #28.
And later, when a time-lost Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl have to disguise themselves, they dress an awful lot like Laurel Kent and Dawnstar.

A New Direction
When I started this blog I did so to keep bjooks, my first blog, focused more on religion and politics and keep the toys and comics and pop culture stuff here on this new companion blog, Comicbjooks. Well, it didn't work out that way, and I ended up with a blog that I didn't really do much of anything with.
So today, here at Comicbjooks, I am starting over with a new mission. I'm deleting all but a few pieces of the crap that was here before, and I'm going to instead be posting some of my favorite images from the animated DC Universe (from both comics and television, although to begin with comics will dominate, especially characters which didn't appear in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon). But don't worry -- I won't limit myself to the DC Universe forever. We'll spread out of a bit once we get going.I'll also be occasionally posting news and tidbits about comics and cartoons, but I'm going to be keeping that to a minimum. No, this blog is primarily a place for the enjoyment of pretty pictures. Let me know in the comments what you think.

More on Titans in Tokyo
Comics Continuum had an update from writer/producer David Slack on the Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo animated movie:
"Without giving anything away, there's a little bit of romance between two our lead characters," Slack said. ...Also at Comics Continuum, Kristopher Carter, Michael McCuistion and Lolita Ritmanis -- music composers for Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans -- discussed the new movie:
"Obviously, if you're going to have it take place in Japan, there's a lot of Japanese things that you need to see," Slack said.
Shew, I'm glad they're making the music feel more Asian, 'cause a show that featured a theme song by HiHi Puffy AmiYumi (singing in Japanese about 50% of the time, no less) didn't have an Asian feel AT ALL."We tried to make it feel different from the rest of the show," Murakami said. "We wanted to make it feel like a movie. I think I said, 'Make it bigger,' and since we're going to Tokyo, it's like Godzilla music."
One of the big difference is that the film features live musicians, rather than the in-house creation, for a bigger sound. And, of course, a film based in Tokyo featured new challenges -- like Japanese super-hero music.
"Glen told us we could have open season on the Asian thing," McCuistion said. "And I don't think we had done that on the series before."
But seriously, glad to hear they've gone all out on the Titans' last hurrah. I'm very much looking forward to it.
UPDATE (8/24/06): I just found this preview for the new video online at Youtube.

Titans in Tokyo Airs in September
According to the Comics Continuum:
Looking forward to what may be the swansong of this incarnation of the animated Titans. Thank god, because that last episode sucked eggs.
Cartoon Network has informed The Continuum that Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo will air on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
Here's how the network describes the film:
"When a high-tech ninja attacks Titans Tower, Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven and Beast Boy spring into action. Robin finds out that the ninja was sent by a mysterious and menacing Japanese criminal known as Brushogun, and the Teen Titans travel to Tokyo to track the villain down."
The film is also scheduled to repeat on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Please note Cartoon Network's schedules are always subject to change. No word yet on when the movie -- which was screened at Comic-Con International -- will be available on DVD.

Teen Zatanna
I hadn't seen the teen Zatanna web cartoon.
Strange. Only two episode are online now. Did it just end, or are they still in production?
